| The PC game ‘Duke Nukem Forever’ has been in production for 10 years so one way or another, it must’ve cost the developers a small fortune. However, as 3D Realms have decided to release their latest teaser on BitTorrent, distribution of their advertising content by this method will be reduced to zero. Groovy. (December 30, 2007) |

| It’s this ‘What if’ concept that Turning Point adopts to give it a unique angle on the now familiar World War II FPS. The accident kills him and Britain becomes defenceless against the Nazi regime. |

| Games Radar writes:
"It’s time to invent a bunch of uninspired goals and ambitions for the coming year so that next year you can hate yourself for not accomplishing any of them. It’s an awful tradition that probably shouldn’t exist in any form, but this year we’re changing things.
We set down the potent cocktails that we resolved to stop drinking last year and took some time to pen some realistic goals, ones we can really stick to. No, really. Our new goals actually correspond to our gamer sensibilities, unlike those douchey ones like “get out of debt” and “enjoy life more.”
Seeing as we’re incredibly generous, we’ve compiled seven resolution suggestions so that you too can tackle 2008 head on and stab it through its ugly heart with a cold blade of unforgiving willpower.
Read on, set your goals and enjoy another brilliant year of gaming." |

| This is the third and final part of Destructoid's look on the gaming icons of 2007.
1. BioShock's Andrew Ryan
This speech is perhaps the most famous in-game quote of the year, and is sure to be fondly remembered over the years to come:
"I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture, a city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well." |

| So the wishful thinking begins again. You don’t have to wonder why so many Xbox 360 gamers would love Metal Gear Solid 4 to go multiplatform. The series has had a huge success on many platforms from MSX to the Xbox. Konami has made millions of dollars on this franchise but for some bullheaded reason, will not go multiplatform with it’s latest triple A title. Is Hideo Kojima just a Sony fanboy in disguise? |

| 2007, Bethesda hardly knew thee. For this week’s “What we’re playing,” Bethesda developers are reflecting on their personal favorite games from this past year. Looking through the list, you’ll see lots of the well-known favorites, including Mass Effect, Super Mario Galaxy, and Rock Band. If Bethesda's staff had to lock themselves in a room and fight over their official office pick for GOTY, it would end up being between the Orange Box or Bioshock. If you’ve been following this blog, or playing games this year, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
As for the format for their rankings, there really isn’t one…this lists let folks at Bethesda format their lists as they please. If you’d like, feel free to share your picks in the comments section.
On to the lists…

| Webuser.co.uk: “When Microsoft extended the lifespan of its Windows XP operating system, announcing that it would remain on store shelves until June next year, it appeared that people were taking a dim view about the merits of upgrading to Windows Vista.
Windows XP was supposed to expire in January 2008, but the five-month kiss-of-life was explained by Microsoft as a response to feedback from its customers, which made industry-watchers wonder whether the real reason was that people were not prepared to upgrade to Vista, which went on sale in January this year.
Microsoft was at pains to stress that Vista was doing well, but admitted there were “some customers who need a little more time to make the switch.”” |

| SunJournal: “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the latest in the celebrated series of first-person shooters, has some pretty big shoes to fill. The fact that it must compete with the much-hyped Halo 3 and Bioshock doesn't make things any easier.
But Call of Duty 4 ($59.99 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and Nintendo DS) has one major advantage: It does everything right.
First, the graphics are awesome. As in, my jaw hung open in awe when I first saw the beautifully rendered images on a high-definition TV. It still looks like a video game, but sometimes not by much”. |
